Prime Mill Coils for Decorative Panels

In our production, we primarily use prime-grade coils from well-established mills with consistent quality. The following are examples of leading domestic stainless steel mill brands known for rigorous quality control and stable metallurgy (listed alphabetically for reference, not as a ranking):

TISCO, Beigang New Materials, Ansteel Lianzhong, JISCO, PZSS, Yongjin Group, Hongwang, Taigang TAGON.

(Note: We typically source from 2–3 of these or equivalent suppliers, depending on availability and specifications.)

These brands represent domestic manufacturing standards. But why does this matter so much for decorative panels? Let’s break down the critical advantages of prime mill coils from such reputable sources.

1. Chemical Composition & Corrosion Resistance

Prime mill 304 stainless steel strictly follows ASTM/EN standards: 18% chromium, 8% nickel, with tightly controlled carbon and impurity levels. This ensures excellent corrosion resistance, especially after bending, welding, or surface finishing (e.g., mirror polishing, brushing, PVD coating). For decorative panels used in indoor or mildly outdoor environments, this chemical stability is essential to prevent rust spots, maintain gloss, and pass salt-spray or humidity tests.

2. Surface Quality & Consistency for Decorative Finishes

  • Decorative panels demand flawless surfaces. Prime mill coils offer:
  • Uniform thickness with minimal thickness variation
  • Clean surfaces – free from roller marks, pinholes, or scratches
  • No edge cracks and consistent gloss after annealing and pickling
  • Excellent flatness without wavy edges

This level of consistency is ideal for:

  • Mirror polishing (No. 8)
  • Brushed finish (HL, No. 4)
  • Etched, embossed, or perforated patterns
  • PVD coloring (gold, black, bronze, etc.)

Moreover, uniform grain size ensures even coloring after PVD coating, while consistent thickness prevents “orange peel” effects during stretching or forming.

3. Mechanical Properties & Formability

For decorative panels that require bending, grooving, or corner forming, prime mill 304 offers stable tensile strength (≥515 MPa) and elongation (≥40%). It bends without cracking and holds shape perfectly, with predictable spring-back behavior. This reliability is critical for achieving seamless panel joints and precise edge alignment.

4. Impact on Fabrication Efficiency & Scrap Rate

Using prime mill material means predictable laser cutting, stable welding, and minimal waste. For a decorative panel manufacturer, this translates into higher yield, faster delivery, and fewer customer complaints. Surface defects are virtually nonexistent before finishing, and mechanical properties remain uniform across the entire coil. The result is a consistently low scrap rate and reliable production scheduling.

Why Our Decorative Panels Insist on Prime Mill Coils

At Qingdao Dayang, we never compromise on substrate quality. All our decorative panels—mirror, brushed, etched, embossed, PVD-coated, etc.—are manufactured using stainless steel from reputable brands. Each plate is inspected for thickness, surface, and mechanical properties before production.
